Hand-painted wooden Dala rooster from Nusnäs in Dalarna, Sweden. The Dala rooster is an old symbol of vigilance and has been made by Nils Olsson since 1928. In the same village where the first Dala horses took shape, the craft lives on, and each rooster is still carved and painted by hand.
As a result, no two roosters are exactly alike. Small variations in shape and painting are a natural part of the process and give each piece its own character. With its 25 cm size, the black Dala rooster has more presence and works nicely on a shelf or in a window, preferably together with other decorative pieces.
