Hand-painted wooden Dala horse from Nusnäs in Dalarna, Sweden. The Dala horse is one of Sweden’s most well-known symbols and has been made by Nils Olsson since 1928. In the same village where the classic Dala horse first took shape, the craft lives on, with each horse still carved and painted by hand.
This means that no two horses are exactly alike. Small variations in colour and pattern are a natural part of the process and give each piece its own expression. With its 20 cm height, the red Dala horse becomes a more prominent feature in the room. The larger format highlights the hand-painted details and makes it a natural focal point.
