Vånga

Vånga is a collection inspired by a striped waistcoat fabric traditionally used in the men’s folk costume from Vånga parish in Finspånga District, Östergötland. Historically, the costume has been associated with both Vånga and the nearby Risinge parish, but is today considered a distinct regional style.

The waistcoat is woven in half-wool fabric with a green base and stripes in black, red, apricot, blue, and white. It reflects the characteristic weaving tradition with stripes that was common in the early 19th century.

The pattern has been recreated based on a preserved waistcoat from Skansen’s costume collection and is now interpreted in textiles such as placemats, pouches, table runners, and cushion covers. The Vånga collection carries a historical expression into modern interiors.
